Okay, so this is fair warning: THIS BLOG POST IS DEDICATED TO J.K. ROWLING AND HER IMAGINATION. A THANKS FOR MAKING MY CHILDHOOD INCREDIBLY MAGICAL.
I promise that is post if safe for those who have not watched the final film, I would never ruin it for you. That said, I can't believe it is actually over. I mean yes the final book has been out for a couple of years, but this may be the one exception where book and movie go hand in hand. I grew up with both film and page. I truly is the end of an era. That said, I promise that if I ever decide to have children they will have very magical bedtime stories.
I think it would be neat to hear everyone's story of how they were introduced to the Wizarding World, so please leave a comment letting me know. Here's mine: I must admit that I was in second grade when all my friends began to really talk about the series. My mom went and bought me the first book and honestly, I didn't get into it. I think it had to do with the fact that possibly my reading level was not up to par? But I could not concentrate or comprehend what was going on in the first chapter. So I forgot about it saw the first movie when it came out on DVD or was it VHS? Oh my...So then I tried to give the book another go and once again, I could not understand it. After the sixth movie (can you believe this?) I was convinced by my best friend Jessica to read the books. This time I was sucked in. I read one right after the other and went through all of them in about 6 months. I remember while I was reading the books I wished so hard that I could be part of the wizarding world and not live in the boring muggle world. I wanted to play Quidditch, I wanted to go to Hogsmead and have a butterbeer, and I wanted to be friends with the Weasley twins. For me, this world was real. It is real. I even wrote one of my college essays on Hermione Granger because she is just such an inspiring, brave young woman. So I raise my wand to J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter and I wave goodbye to my fleeting childhood.

I made this shirt and I am so proud. I also bought the time turner necklace at the Harry Potter Exhibit on 42nd. It was magical to say the least. It was basically a whole set of props from the movies. My brother and I also pulled a Mandrake out of a pot, listened to the Fat Lady try to break a glass with her voice, and my brother was sorted into Gryffindor. You know, honestly, although everyone would want to be part of Gryffindor I think the hat would put me into Ravenclaw. I'm more brains than bravery. OH! This visit also means I MUST make my way to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida. I want to try a butterbeer!
The back of my shirt. I cried when J.K. Rowling said these words at the London Premeire. I don't think I realized how much of an affect this series had on me.

BOOM! You're Pregnant.

For TRUE Potterheads, I hope you have all watched A Very Potter Musical staring the supermegafoxyawesomehot Darren Criss of Glee. If not, here is the link. It is basically a Parody of the whole Harry Potter series but it is incredibly entertaining as these gifs will show. Source for all AVPM images: FUCKYEAHAVMP.TUMBLR.COM

That's it, I'm making a deathly hallows T-shirt aswell!!
ReplyDeleteAnd YOU HAVE A TIME TURNER?! you're so lucky!!
For some reason I know that if I went to Hogwarts I'd be a slytherin: i'm not brave, not creative nor hardworking. And even though I'm not racist or anything lol, all the other slytherin traits apply (does this make me a bad person?)
it is quite sad that this is the last harry potter book.. I actually remember really well when I first read harry potter: my aunt gave me the book she just brought from England (this was about 1998, so the book probabily wasnt big enough to be out in Portugal). I remember getting all excited about the story and everyone mocked me because of it, they thought the whole concept was stupid. I called everyone a muggle, and they would get pissed off because they didn't know what it meant xD
Then the films came and everyone started liking HP. I had the slytherin symbol and draco malfoy all over my notebooks (maybe my crush on him influenced my house choice?) xD (My first boyfriend actually looked like him, I was a bit obsessed xD)
I am actually playing lego harry potter on my xbox now, that's how nostalgic I am. And I'm making my mum watch the whole series with me (and if she doesnt want to, I'll do a little HP marathon on my own!)
btw, candy floss IS cotton candy LOL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotton_candy
ReplyDeletethis explains so much, I've seen it written sevral times, but for some reason I never linked it to candy floss. makes sense though xD
